Undersized Urbanite 2014- A little Imagination

I'm excited to be a part of the UU competition this year and for there to be a panel of judges, although, I do not envy what they will go through in May.

This year, I plan on starting with a new structure, instead of a rehab.  I will be using HBS's Home Depot Imagination House to start with.

As many of you may know, I love to work in miniature to try out designs that I love, but probably couldn't pull off in my rental without... well, they just wouldn't happen.

There are a few things that didn't happen in the last build that I would like to try to incorporate into this one.... like, the string lights.

I love IKEA furniture, so we might see some of that.

Last years entry featured a living room, a huge bathroom, a library, a cluttered attic and a bedroom.

This year, I want to try a few different things. Expect a full kitchen with small dining area, a sophisticated man cave, two bedrooms (adult and teenage girl), and a craft room.  I may try to fit a bathroom in there, but not sure if there will be room.

I have great ideas for bright colors, classic greys, beautiful wood tones and subway tiles.  In real life, I love upcycling random things to furniture, a coat of spray paint to renew an old dresser, a switch of fabrics to breathe new life into a chair....  Such as this one, below.  It used to be a horrid red leather.
I plan to do a lot of this to the items in the Imagination House.  :)

I hope you are as excited as I am!  I will be pulling plans together for this over the next few months, but won't officially start it until the middle of December.  I am currently working on my entry for the Greenleaf Spring Fling and my entry for the HBS Creatin Contest.

And the spring fling reveal will be coming up soon!

    1. Thanks! I'm in the early stages of panic mode for finishing the Fling. But I suppose that is normal. :)

  3. I love what you did to the couch! (I think they deliberately use hideous fabric for dollhouse furniture.) Your ideas for the Imagination house sound interesting.
I cannot wait to see your entries for both competitions.

  4. I keep kicking around wanting to do this undersized urbanite since winter is coming up here and its the perfect time to be a winter troll ;P

I keep thinking if Lyssa can make time to take care of family and have mini time, then I surely can! ;)

...quick question, how wrong would it be to feed my family with a giant hamster pellet device?..nah nevermind...

Can't wait to see your works!!!

    1. You can doooooooo iiiiiiiiiiiiitttt!!! Seriously, I use it as my me time. I do a lot of cleaning while making dinner or after the kids go to bed. And, thankfully, my husband would rather have things like sandwiches for dinner.... so I don't have to make the whole meat and potatoes crap every night. And one night a week is FEND-get it yo' damn self. HA!
